The Passage East Ferry Company Ltd operates a continuous Car Ferry Service across the historic River Suir linking the villages of Passage East, Co. Waterford and Ballyhack, Co. Wexford. Our ferry is a very important link for tourism and business operators as well being very popular as part of a day trip itinerary for many people on both Waterford & Wexford sides of the Suir estuary.

With easy access to Waterford City, Dunmore East, Waterford Greenway in Waterford and New Ross, Duncannon and the Hook Peninsula there is an abundance of things to see and do. The service operates every day with the exception of 25th & 26th of December. We operate a continous shuttle service sailing approximately every 10/15 minutes from either side and with over 100 crossings per day "You won't have long to wait". The present car ferry service commenced in 1982 replacing a small boat ferry service that had been in place for hundreds of years."

The Passage East Ferry caters for cars, campervans, caravans, motorcyclists, trailers, cyclists and foot passengers. Our sailing times are as follows:

1st September-31st May.

Monday-Saturday: 07:00-20:00.

Sundays and Bank Hols: 09:30-20:00.

1st June-31st August.

Monday-Saturday: 07:00-21:00.

Sundays and Bank Hols:09:30-21:00.

Our ferry caters for cars, caravans, camper vans, motor cyclists, cyclists and foot passengers. We have a range of discounted tickets for commuters and regular users. You can also avail of the Tax Saver Scheme if you use the ferry to travel to/from your workplace. Contact us for more information.

TaxSaver Tickets

Avail of the TaxSaver Scheme and you could save €000's. We have three different TaxSaver Ticket options; Gold, SIlver & Bronze. Each can be used any day at any time and are valid for twelve months. The table below outlines the no of trips and cost of each ticket:

Here is an example; Joe has a salary of €40'000 and opts for a Gold ticket. Joe's employer purchases the ticket and Joe's new salary becomes €40'000-€1575=€38'425.
